Remember that scene Paul Walker and Vin Diesel stop at a red light right next to this snob driving a Ferrari F355 Spider in the 2001 Fast and Furious movie? The guy goes all 50 Shades of Upper Class but fails to win the race once Brian pushes the pedal to the metal. It’s a somewhat iconic scene that most of the fans of the street racing action saga will always remember. There’s another thing that’s great about it, that gorgeous orange Toyota Supra.
That precise car apparently is now going under the hammer. The highly customized 1993 Toyota Supra stunt car will be one of the lots at Mecum’s auction to take place starting May 12 through May 17. Like any movie involving car stunts, more than one versions of this vehicle were built, including a “hero” car for close-up scenes and others designed and built to perform the actual stunts.

Built by veteran auto mechanic Eddie Paul at The Shark Shop in El Segundo, California, the 1993 Toyota Supra was featured throughout the movie. It was there even in the final race scene between Walker’s character and that of Vin Diesel. It was that scene when the car even flipped over.

According to Mecum Auctions, this puppy is powered by a 3.0-liter inline-6 engine producing 220 horsepower that works via a 5-speed transmission. Its strength is augmented by the twin Holley Performance nitrous oxide bottles mounted in the rare compartment. The supra was expertly reinforced with a heavy-duty suspension, a full roll cage, competition seats and a Jaz Products fuel cell.

A Bomex body kit and APR wing, Dazz alloy wheels with Yokohama rubber and wild graphics by Modern Image of San Diego, all complete the big picture. Now, considering the seventh installment just grossed 1 billion dollars in just 17 days time, and that this was Paul Walker’s last movie we’re guessing this Supra will attract a great deal of attention.
