Hayabusa-based reverse trike manufacturer Tanom is stepping on the gas and ups its game, announcing that production has begun in the all-new vehicle assemble facility in Culpeper, Virginia. The modern plant has a 55,000 square foot (5,100 square meters) area and now delivers three versions of the high-performance model Invader. The Culpeper plant will take care of the production of the TR-3 Roadster, TC-3 Coupe and Model R, the race-specced version. The move is significant as it’s been around 5 years since Tanom started development and testing for the Invader reverse trikes, but according to official company sources, everything had to be perfect before the first machine rolled off the line. Tanom Motors president and CEO Sandy Hall is enthusiastic: “It’s been almost five years in development and testing, but we wanted to get it right. We’re thrilled with the vehicle design which includes unparalleled performance; edgy styling with a roomy passenger compartment with adjustable seating; and a fully integrated mechanical reverse gear.” Invader trikes are using Suzuki GSX’-1300R Hayabusa 1,340cc engines and dash boards, and you can even spot some of the handlebar buttons being used. The bodywork is made by Tanom in-house, including injection molding, powder coating, painting, and carbon fiber dipping. Hall expects that production reaches the hundreds this year, and anticipates growth for the future. Yamaha’s US manufacturing branch reached 3-million units mark
