We’re not quite sure this would fit your Miata, but a Ferrari Enzo engine has shown up on eBay. Let’s just put it this way - It’s not every day that eBay offers you the heart of a retired hypercar wearing the name of the guy who founded the most powerful car brand in the world.
Yes, we got a little bit carried away with that description, but it’s the truth. Returning to our engine, the thing appears to be complete, with the carbon fiber air intake and the ECU, as the ad states.

Despite being about a decade old, the 5,998cc V12 most likely still delivers the 660 prancing ponnies its factory had gifted it with, since the unit only has 1,000 miles (1,600 km) on it. Then there's the torque. Especially for an engine released in the naughties, 484 lb-ft (657 Nm) is quite a lot for a naturally aspirated unit.

As you can imagine, these things don’t come cheap. This Maranello-produced heart is offered for $79,900 (EUR63,190 at the current exchange rates).

The owner may be selling the Enzo engine a little early

As you probably know, Ferrari is on its way to dropping natural aspiration. It the war against emissions, NA powerplants are forced to capitulate. Sure, Ferrari is a small volume automaker and thus benefits from an exemption, but there’s only so much the Italians can do when it comes to pushing this.

All future Ferrari V8s will be twin-turbocharged, while the upcoming V12 engines will keep their natural aspiration, but will be assisted by electric power.

Well, if Ferrari will only make turbos and hybrids in the future, this NA-only Maranello goodies might just be worth more once the automaker is forced to make the switch.

Then again, we can’t stop thinking this engine has come off yet another abused Enzo. Why can’t people stop mistreating these wonderful creatures? After all, we have only been blessed with 399 of them.
