Since Fiat is doing the right thing with the 500, turning this into a family, we figured we might as well show you what should be the next big thing in the realm of the Italians, namely the Fiat... 600. Designer David Obendorfer has come up with a set of renderings of a new-age 600 which are both cool and realistic.
Before we get to talk about the pixel art here, let’s see why this makes full sense. The designer talks about his creation as being based on the Punto, while earlier reports indicated Fiat is looking to replace the aging Punto next year. It was mentioned that Fiat could name the new model the 500 Plus, which does seem to make more sense than 600, as it would stick to the 500 theme the Italian carmaker has been mulling.

The Punto has been around for almost a decade now, while the 600 turns 60 next year, so it seems like Fiat's star will align next year.

The Fiat 600 rendering

The 3D model we have here seems like a worthy tribute for the original 600, which was with us between 1955 and 1969. Of course, times have changed and while the retro icon measured a little over 3.2 meters in length, the one designed by Obendorfer goes a tad over four meters.

We see plenty of 500 details being sprinkled all around the car and most of them seem to be placed right where they should. In addition, the designer took the time to include an Abarth version. Once again, this would make full sense. The 500-based Abarth is one of the spiciest cars in its segment, but many customers can’t go over the speed- and power-induced limitations. Well, a 500 Plus Abarth would come to solve all these issues.

Still, while a 1950s 600-inspired replacement for the Punto would be cool, the Italian automotive producer should inject enough personality into the model to make it more than just another member of the 500 family.
