First McLaren P1 in the US Wears Giovanna Wheels, Advertised for $2.3 Million

When the concept debuted in 2012 at the Paris Motor Show, every petrolhead knew what McLaren was up to - developing the most modern hypercar out there, a proper follow up to the legendary F1 from the ‘90s.

Whereas grandpa F1 was capable of 243 mph (391 km/h), the McLaren P1 hybrid hypercar is capable of 217 mph or 349 km/h. Despite this Top Trumps downside, the P1 encompasses the hopes and dreams of 21st century high-performance motoring.

However, the Woking-based company didn’t forget its racing pedigree, nor the F1’s. That’s why the electric motor and M838TQ 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine setup offers mind-bending get-up-and-go: 350 km/h (217 mph) top speed, 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds and 300 km/h (186 mph) in just 16.5.

It’s a ballistic missile on wheels, one that can cruise 31 km (19 miles) in electric mode, despite the 916 PS (903 ponies) and 978 Nm (722 lb-ft) output. It’s no wonder the entire production of 375 units was sold out by November 2013. One of those cars got Stateside and it’s for sale for a cool $2.3 million.

Showing just 325 miles (523 km) on the clock, this is the first McLaren P1 delivered in the US. Sporting a bright Volcano Yellow paint job, this British exotica also wears a quarter of 20 and 21-inch Giovanna GFG Forged FM-562 alloy wheels. Fingers crossed the future owner will peel those fugly black stickers off.
