The glitz and the fashion of the notorious Monaco Grand Prix will be reignited once again, but without powerful engines roaring the Principality's streets as Formula E is coming to town.
The Monaco ePrix will take celebrations to the streets on May 9 but on this occasion, cheers from the crowd will come on top of the silent racers.

However, organizers took the liberty of changing the iconic GP street circuit's configuration. That being said, the new track is just under 2 km (1.2 miles) long compared to the original length - 3.34 km / 2.07 miles. This measure was taken in order to cope with the reduced range of the Formula E racers, but the new arrangement will use the same start/finish line.

But due to the new layout imagined by FIA, racers will turn right towards the harbor. In addition, they'll have to tackle a new hairpin before coming back on the original Formula 1 Grand Prix layout that's more familiar to petrolheads.

That's no easy task since pilots will have to negotiate through the Tabac and Swimming Pool corners. Although the new circuit pattern gained some features that have the potential to cause quite spectacular moments, aficionados will no doubt miss famous turns like Beau Rivage and Casino Square.

Switching back to Formula 1, it is worth reminding that Ayrton Senna is still the only driver who managed to earn the most GP wins in Monaco, with seven victories.

The circuit itself poses a real challenge to drivers due to a high number of tight turns, elevation changes and the famous tunnel. However, such factors help in building the circuit's reputation as a demanding and dangerous one.
