Here we are again, reporting yet another recall affecting the American motorist. In this instance, the Ford Motor company issued no less than four separate campaigns with one accident attributed to the following conditions.
The biggest safety recall of them all is covering 518,313 examples of the 2013 to 2015 Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 Ford Edge. According to FoMoCo, all vehicles are susceptible to an attachment issue with the steering gear motor.

Corrosion could make the system fracture in worst case scenarios, leading to power steering failure. Happily, however, this doesn’t result in a total loss of steering, and no accidents are related to this condition.

For the second biggest recall campaign issued by the Blue Oval today, an estimated 50,156 2014 Ford Edge, Escape, Focus and Transit Connect vehicles, joined by certain 2014 to 2015 Ford Fiesta models are called back. What is the problem with these vehicles? The nickel plating on the fuel pump may fail prematurely, which may cause the engine to stall while driving. Ford is aware of one crash allegation that may be related to this condition.

A safety compliance recall has been announced for an estimated 22,616 examples of the 2015 Lincoln MKZ. Apparently there’s a software issue with the park lamps that is affecting these luxurious sedans. When the headlamps are on, the park lamps could shine brighter than regulations allow, and may adversely affect the vision of oncoming drivers.

91 units of the 2015 Ford F-150 pickup truck are also recalled for a potential issue with the underbody heat shield. Some shields “may be improperly installed or missing, increasing the risk of fire.” The word “missing” is something I find unacceptable. I understand a missing bolt or screw on a busy assembly line, but an underbody shield? That’s not cool.
