In Europe, the Ford Motor Company's Valencia plant is a powerhouse of manufacturing. Frome here on in, the plant handles production duties for six Ford nameplates – including multiple body styles and derivates – on a single assembly line.
With the start of volume production of the all-new S-Max and Galaxy plus the Mondeo Vignale, Ford Valencia cements itself as a hot asset in the automaker's Euro arsenal. Other than the previously mentioned models, the facility also builds the Kuga, Mondeo, Transit Connect and Tourneo Connect.
Every 80 seconds a Ford is built in Valencia and the FoMoCo peeps plan to build a mind-boggling 400,000 automobiles in 2015. That figure represents a 40 percent increase over the total output of 2014.
But then again, the Blue Oval didn't invest €2.3 billion since 2011 for nothing. That mountain of money helped to update one of the world’s most advanced and productive automotive plants.
A fun fact regarding Ford Valencia is that roughly 80 percent of production is exported to 75 countries worldwide, including North America. The crème de la crème of Valencia's production efforts is represented by the 2015 Ford Mondeo Vignale.
This month, the new Vignale Quality Centre was opened in Valencia to support Ford’s new upscale Vignale product and ownership experience. The Euro-spec 2015 Ford Mondeo Hybrid is assembled there as well.
“Our Valencia operation has become truly state of the industry in terms of flexibility, productivity and the innovation in manufacturing quality,” declared Barb Samardzich, the chief operating officer of Ford Europe.
“It’s incredible and virtually unprecedented to see a luxurious Ford Mondeo Vignale going down the same line with a Kuga SUV and Transit Connect commercial vehicle," Mr. Samardzich added.
