As of April 2014, over 14 million Jettas were sold with the sedan turning into Volkswagen’s top selling model. The small family car has been one of the young drivers’ favorite vehicles, but with the German automaker faking its diesel emissions, the situation may soon change.
It’s been said on numerous occasions throughout the evolution of the automotive industry, diesels are a better alternative to hybrids, but the giant scandal Volkswagen is currently involved in begs to differ. There simply is no better way to keep emissions low than mixing your petrol engine with a greener motor that is powered by something that doesn’t harm the environment. It’s that simple.

As we previously reported, Volkswagen’s dieselgate cheating was discovered by Daniel Carder, a 45-year-old engineer from the West Virginia University and his team. Together, they have conducted the $50,000 study which generated early evidence on the German automaker’s cheating in the US vehicle emission tests.

Daniel’s team of five was approached by nonprofit International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) at the end of 2013, being tasked with performing an independent research. Yes, we said that already. Our point is, the two tested vehicles were a 2012 Jetta and a 2013 Passat. Here’s where things went wrong, and the rest of the story is history (or will soon become).

Volkswagen lost the pubic trusts due to this scandal that will result in the recall of nearly every diesel Jetta sold in the U.S. in recent years. To see comedy networks such as Funny or Die doing ironic clips targeting Volkswagen’s cheat is more than natural, if you ask us. They had it coming, and we should all expect this sort of stuff to keep happening for a while.

In the video below, young female motorists are reading a breakup note, talking to their Jetta. With tears in their eyes, the girls are saying goodbye to their favorite car. We’re not here to spoil it, but we can tell you this much: the ending is hilarious.
