Hennessey's 1,200 HP Twin-Turbo Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Tears Up the Dyno

Last time we checked, Hennessey's Camaro ZL1 portfolio stopped at 750 ponies. With the Texan tuner always experimenting with more power, perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that things have been dialed up by quite a lot.

To be more specific, the Lone Star State company has further massaged the ZL1, managing to squeeze no less than 1,145 hp.

Keep in mind that we're talking about rear wheel horsepower here, which means the output at the crank sits somewhere between 1,300 and 1,400 hp. As for the rear wheel torque, this sits at an overly meaty 1,109 lb-ft.

We're dealing with a twin-turbo setup, one that delivers 20 psi of boost. As for what happens throughout the power band, the dyno charts delivered in the piece of footage below tell the complete story of this slab of GM.

Perhaps some of you are worried about the ZL1 losing its supercharger leading to a laggy setup, but this isn' the case.

Sure, the TT setup steers clear of the US muscle tradition, but anybody who's visited the drag strip knows this is the way to go if you're aiming for big numbers such as the ones we have here.

The dyno run in question was performed with the Camaro ZL1 using race fuel. Naturally, people also want to know what happens on 93 octane, with one YouTube user asking Hennessey about the output in this situation.

The aftermarket developer didn't fail to answer, explaining that, if you simply want to brim the tank at the gas station, their setup will deliver 940 rear wheel hp. Which is still enough to leave most, if not all, other cars out there in a cloud of tire smoke.

And while the turbos may not deliver the aural kicks of a blower, we have to warn you - hitting the "play" button below will release a delicious soundtrack to go with the dyno aggression.
