Hitting 204 MPH Is Like a Walk in the Park for the 707 HP 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG, Bentley Mulsanne Speed, BMW M5 or the Tesla Model S P85D acceleration nutcase. It doesn’t really matter which of these you compare the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat against because the Detroit muscle is kind of the hill in terms of undiluted grunt and top speed. But how easy is it to hit 204 mph (328 km/h) with a family sedan?

From the clip Dodge released onto the magical world of online video sharing communities, we learn that the Hellcat-ified car doesn’t even break a sweat in its gallop to 204 mph. While the menacing Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat “only” hits 199 mph (320 km/h), the Charger can do more thanks to its better aero package according to SRT’s Russ Ruedisueli.

You’ve heard that right. It’s bulkier and heavier than its bro’, yet the way it cuts through the air at high speeds makes the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat that little more capable than the Challenger. Imagine if Kowalski from 1971's Vanishing Point would’ve heard of this, only if he were a real life person.

Still, we have a gut feeling that “the last American hero to whom speed means freedom of the soul” wouldn’t mind the intoxicating grunt of the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI fire-spitting V8 blunderbuss.

Supercharged for good measure, the vee eight motor churns out a staggering 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm). It appears that someone at Dodge is really passionate about tire torturing and the smell of burning rubber, but that would be a wrong opinion.

As we’ve learned from the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat top speed video below, R&D duties also comprised of carefully selecting the rubber that's able to take the abuse of those seven-O-seven ponies.

Spoiler alert: with the wind blowing from the rear, the four-door Hellcat can hit 206.9 mph (333 km/h).
