Honda Celebrates 50 Million Thailand Milestone, Introduces the 2015 CRF230F

It’s been half a century since Honda established the first factory in Thailand. The jubilee is and even more important occasion than simply celebrating 50 years of Thai-made Hondas. This moment marks the manufacturing of 25 million motorcycles and 25 million power units for Honda, both gathered under the “50 Million Celebration, Synergies for Success” concept.

Honda’s operations in Thailand play a huge role in the corporation’s economy. In 2013, Thai Honda Mfg. has produced 10% of the total number of 17 million motorcycles delivered, and a whopping 40 percent of the 6 million Honda power units worldwide.

The Thai factory can deliver 1.7 million motorcycles annually. The production of 250cc engines started in 2010, followed two years later by a global model production line dedicated to manufacturing bikes with worldwide sales. The CBR650 models are the key product for line.

A new CRF230F for the riders Down Under

Remaining in the same part of the world, we have to mention the latest bike announced for Australia, the 2015 CRF230F. We took a look in the bike roster for other regions of the world, and it looks like this machine will not make it into the Western markets. At least no mention of this bike reaching North America or Europe was made.

The CRF230F is a great choice for riders in search of a light and punchy trail bike for outdoor fun. This 233cc 4-stroke single-engine bike is equipped with an electric starter which adds a lot of convenience. The Showa suspensions offer 216 mm (8.5“) of travel for the fork and 228mm (9”) for the swingarm, adding to the terrainability brawn. Power is transmitted to the manual 6-speed gearbox by means of a heavy-duty clutch.

A light but strong steel chassis is complemented by lightweight materials, a 7-liter (1.85 US gal) plastic tank. The snail-type chain adjuster is accompanied by more solutions which make maintenance easy, such as the sealed battery, a maintenance-free CDI ignition, and the reusable foam air filter.

For young and adult riders alike, the 2015 CRF230F is a top-drawer choice. It is an excellent educational platform for the youngsters who are eyeing the step up to the 450cc bikes, while at the same time it can be a non-intimidating off-road companion for pretty much any member of the family.
