With the official debut of this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed only whiskers away, carmakers are beginning to apply the finishing touches to their stands, but not Honda.

The Japanese manufacturer just revealed through its UK arm the setup of their stand at Goodwood, so prepare your inner child for this: the stand's design is themed around children’s toy and diecast cars boxes. But there's a catch: life-sized cars sit inside those giant boxes.

Named the ‘Honda Playset’, the imaginative design is a first for Goodwood and on this occasion will be located at the front of the grid, right by the hill climb track.

Besides showcasing the cars, each box has been designed to offer a unique experience once inside, including the chance to win prizes relating to each toy box. For example, with the Jazz creative focused around shopping, visitors could win a shopping spree at Selfridges.

Also, the full UK lineup on the stand will include the new Jazz, NSX, Civic Type R, HR-V and refreshed Civic and CR-V. The McLaren-Honda MP4-30 will be a central feature of its full racing story playing the theme to the Formula 1 box.

“From the outset of the concept we wanted to showcase Honda’s curiosity with motor design and bring it to life in an ‘adult scale', linking back to Honda's tagline of 'The Power of Dreams'. So the thought was to bring to life the moment when the Power of Dreams is first sparked, as a child, exploring and enjoying car design when so many of us first fall in love with cars,” explained David Chidlow, Creative Director at Jack Morton, the creative agency that created the stand.
