It has become a trend to launch concept cars and future products via video games lately, especially when it comes to the auto industry. There are numerous examples out there but the recent collaboration between Gran Turismo 6 and various manufacturers speaks louder than words.
In the virtual realm cars seem easier to put together and drive in all these exotic shapes and we figure that’s why the newest and craziest works of imagination from designers around the world are being launched like this. One of them was the Infiniti Vision GT model, part of the host of Vision models that showed up in the Gran Turismo franchise lately.
However, unlike other car makers that left things in the virtual world, the Japanese manufacturer decided to make one in the metal as well. The first venue where it was shown was the Shanghai Auto Show just a couple of nights ago.
Part of the Infiniti Design Night, the event took place at the Shanghai Himalayas Art Museum and included two more concepts alongside the Vision GT, namely the Q80 Inspiration and the Q60 Concept.
As you can see, the Vision Gran Turismo concept has almost nothing on it that you’d call ‘ordinary.' Perhaps we could call the front grille ordinary because it has been used on various Infiniti models in the past, but other than that, it’s a miracle that we even got to see this car in real life.
The roofline is almost on par with the bonnet and boot as the greenhouse seems to have been minimized to the point of nearly disappearing completely. The wing at the back is made of carbon fiber as are the air intake blades up front and the vents of the sides.
You shouldn’t expect a production model to come out looking like this, however. What we have here is purely an exercise of the imagination that is meant to give us a small glimpse of what Infiniti is working on. Hopefully, more and more design ideas from it will make into new models every year though. We wouldn’t mind that one bit.
