With the largest snowmen in the world being 122 feet 1 inch (37,21 m) tall, making three big snow balls and simply sticking a carrot, two buttons and a pot on it is not really that cool anymore. Sure, kids are kids and nobody is expecting them to be artistic, but grown-ups could always give it a shot. That’s pretty much what this talented unknown person from Tatarstan, Russia, thought anyway.
The record for the biggest snowman in the world was set in 2008 in Bethel, Maine and is in fact a snow-woman named Olympia Snowe. The previous record was also a snowman built in Bethel, Maine, in February 1999 and dubbed “Angus, King of the Mountain” in honor of the current governor of Maine, Angus King. This one was 113 feet 7 inches (34,62 m) tall and weighed over 9 million pounds (over 4 million kg).

Sure, not all snowmen out there need to be made of frozen water. In fact, we just remembered of Ford’s way of celebrating winter holidays. Thought as a team-building exercise, nine U.S. design teams kicked off the holiday seasons with a snowman-design challenge. They were given three pieces of white Styrofoam and instructed to work together and have fun. The results were quite interesting, but they pale in comparison with what these Russians did.

There are a lot of people out there who really like making snowmen, probably as much as they love snow, but when it comes to the ex soviets, things have to be shocking, not just interesting. And we mean military trucks, tanks, a 10 feet (3 meters) tall Stalin statue and several other odd sculptures.

The person who built these snow sculptures sure spent a lot of time and we have to admit some of them are quite impressive. Take the World War 2 soldiers, the Soviet submarines, the Willis jeep or even that airplane, all these and a lot more prove these people are really talented. In fact, we’re guessing we’re looking at some sort of contest or maybe the structures are part of an exhibition.
