Shelby American is teasing us with a veil thrown over a new S550 Mustang project and so far the image above is all the late Carroll Shelby’s company wants to give us. So what could they be hiding below that power domme hood?
More than one pair of eyes sees the styling cues of a Mustang GT350/GT350R in the teaser pic. With the 2015 Shelby GT, a 627 hp supercharged incarnation of the Mustang GT, having already been introduced, this makes sense, but there are still multiple possibilities to uncover.

Forced induction or perhaps a track-confined version

Betting on a supercharger would be the easy choice. Thus, we could end up with a GT350S that would be a nod to the 1966 prototypes, or perhaps a GT350SC.

With Ford Racing having just introduced the manic GT endurance machine, we could see Shelby American offering us a racing version of the Mustang, something like a GT350 Trans-Am.

Sure, with the industry trends these days, a twin-turbo setup isn’t completely off the table, but a GT350 twin turbo package seems like the less probable version.

As for those asking about a Shelby GT1000 or a Super Snake, since the Blue Oval hasn’t introduced the S550 GT500 yet, we probably can’t talk about such models at the moment.

Either way, Shelby American said it would offer us the full details later today, so stay tuned for a juicy update. We'd hate to be in the place of those rear tires right now.

UPDATE: we were wrong to expect a GT350-based development, as Shelby American has introduced the 2015 Super Snake, a 750 HP machine.
