Jay Leno and the Ironman Take a Baja 1000 Toyota Tundra for a Spin

The Baja 1000 is one of the toughest off-road races on the globe. It usually goes for over 1,000 miles, you got the harsh desert conditions, the clock to beat and of course, spectators sabotaging or booby-trapping the course for their own entertainment.

Ivan “Ironman” Stewart took part in desert racing since 1973 going thorough different classes, and he’s the only racing driver so far to win overall including the motorcycle class, as well as driving a four-wheeler solo in the Baja 1000.

He retired in 2000, but continued to be involved in off-road racing by becoming a founder in the ProTruck racing organization. That was also the time when Toyota introduced the Tundra and started making the Ivan Stewart limited edition.

Apart from that, he is also influencing the improvements made by the company to the Tundra regarding dynamics, reinforcements and engine performances along with TRD parts.

And if these aren’t enough to say everything about Ivan’s skills, he can still give you some of the best off-road driving lessons. A fact discovered by Jay Leno himself, after the Baja master took him in his Toyota Tundra TRD Pro out in the desert for a spin as you’ll see in the video bellow.

Jay also got to drive the desert beast and they even had time to make a pit stop "for a 4X4" at the end of the day.
