Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, the boys are up to their usual shenanigans yet again! Jeremy Clarkson's Twitter activity is the tell-tale sign that Captain Power and his faithful sidekicks are preparing to film all-new material for their new car show on Amazon Prime.
According to reports, the new show will be called Gear Knobs. In his first tweet, Jezza puts it straight to its fans and friends: "Sorry about the lengthy absence from Twitter." Right you are, old chap, more so if you consider that the first episode of the show is slated to be released no sooner than autumn 2016. Some $250 million were offered for 36 episodes over the course of three series, 12 episodes each. Clarkson also implies that "these are very very very busy times. Fun though."
You know what that means, don't you? Lots of sideways hooliganism, the most expensive cars in the world, funny challenges, and laughter. The former Top Gear presenter mentions that James May is busy at this moment, but all of them (including Richard Hammond) will be involved in the filming. "A couple of weeks" from now on, the paparazzi will most probably have a scoop on where the boys are and what cars they'll be driving for this first segment under their deal with Amazon. Will it be better than Top Gear? Most certainly.
With roughly $7 million per episode, the three amigos will certainly have more things to play with compared to their Top Gear era. New episodes are to come out one at a time according to executive producer Andy Wilman. Just like in the good old days at the BBC, putting the show together is Jeremy's and Wilman's task.
Fast cars and amusing challenges aside, we sure hope that Gear Knobs (or whatever it will be called) will feature a News segment. The former Top Gear presenters certainly have something to say about the Dieselgate fiasco. We're also curious if they've come up with a new tame racing driver to replace The Stig.
Fingers crossed all our post-Top Gear fantasies will be fulfilled by Jeremy, Richard, and James.
