The name of this custom bike may sound a bit too much to certain ears but frankly, we like it. Setting aside the sexual connotations, nomen est omen. And by all means, this FMW Motorcycles creation is an object of desire. In fact, it is like a person you like and with whom you’d like to you-know-what, even though you know very well that he or she is not the most beautiful being on earth, and not by a long shot.
Still, you look at it and feel the blood rushing to the tips of your ears, and grin in anticipation. You know it is waiting for you, and you know it feels perfect. It has tender looks but still has sharp teeth which can bite deeply. It may look calm and lazy from afar, but getting closer reveals a machine which can also be savage. Just like youn-know-what…

A hand-crafted tailor-made bike like no other

“A creation from scrap, made-to-measure, not only special, but unique,” says Lorenzo Fuagroli as he tries to describe the Coito. While many builders rely on sourcing parts from other motorcycles the Fugar prefers to build his own parts, at least as far as the bodywork and exhaust are concerned.

This way, there is no chance to see a bike “replicating” the looks of another custom machine, and it looks like this philosophy is very dear to Fugaroli. Custom bikes should be unique items and not just slight variations on the same theme. Lookalike is not custom, in his mind.

Coito started as a KTM 640 and went through the weight loss program, one of the house specialties over at FMW Motorcycles. Since the M and W in FMW are short for “metal” and “works”, it’s easy to understand that all the orange plastic bodywork was scrapped. Metal replaced plastic and the Fugar has outdone himself with this build. Even more, the whole bike was tailor-made for the customer, modifying all the details and measurements for the optimal fit.

Simple, clean lines gave the LC4 a new look which mixes aggressiveness and playfulness, while still retaining top-drawer functionality. If anything, the whole bodywork of the Coito is a huge tank. The main tank, the underseat structures and the tail section are hand-crafted from hand-beaten aluminium and can hold significantly more fuel than any KTM 640 could ever dream of. And it still looks sharp while at it!

The headlight was replaced with a slightly retro square one and placed in a small bezel with a tiny beak. This structure will help deflect some wind and make riding more comfortable, while the red, slightly pearly paint and contrasting FMW logo accents introduce a most welcome dash of pro-street looks which may seem a bit too much for a KTM.

All in all, the Coito is an excellent proof that almost any bike can be transformed in to a jewel. The in-house exhaust tells the same story FMW Motorcycles is about: screw compromises, this is our style, this is our street!
