You know why the Land Rover Defender was never as popular as the G-Class? Because it lacked the crucial wow factor. British car customizers Kahn Design have fixed all that by creating a sort of chimera with the body of a truck, the interior of a sportscar and the feet of an army vehicle. Say hello to the Flying Huntsman Pickup 6×6!
Kahn design already made a Flying Huntsman version of the regular short wheelbase pickup with 4x4 and an awesome 6x6 with a conventional SUV body. Today, they've joined those two together. We have no idea why anybody would need such a vehicle, but it's as awesome as the ultra-expensive G63 AMG 6x6.
Arguably the coolest Huntsman yet, the black-on-black Discovery model comes with many familiar parts. The entire front fascia has been revised and now includes a more masculine grille, extra lights and enhanced sides. Wider fenders will remind everybody of the German counterpart, but it's immediately obvious none of the parts are made from carbon fiber.
Even though the hood is much larger, nothing much is happening under there. Kahn have revealed that the vehicle will be available in both manual 6 speed and automatic 4 or 6 speed variants, in LHD and RHD, and with a range of engine options available, most of them British. The base model is a 2.2L diesel that starts £99,875 + VAT, a significantly lower price than the millionaire toys Mercedes build.
For the record, Kahn can also install a 430-hp LS3 V8 into a previous Flying Huntsman project. The 6.2-liter engine came complete with a GM six-speed automatic gearbox and channels, upgraded exhaust and intakes. If a measly 2.2-liter diesel isn't for you, going American is very much an option.
As with all of Kahn’s coachbuilt vehicles, the 6x6 is special on the inside as well. Form-hugging bucket seats have been wrapped in red leather, so it's like the inside of an Adidas training shoe.
