Now, that’s more like it! Kawasaki is finally starting to show us some real features of the upcoming Ninja H2 street beast. No, they’ve not sent us a full tech specs sheet, and neither have they provided us with studio shots of the new machine. Instead, they decided to offer us a glimpse of what the livery of the new bike will be… and so far we’re kind of speechless.
Honestly, we expected the H2 to sport the same carbon fiber bodywork the H2R. The first official photos of the Ninja H2R showed us a luxurious carbon fiber weave bodywork with a jewel-like clear varnish coat. The texture of the carbon fiber fabric could be easily observed and added a stellar style to the bike. However, the H2 brings something even cooler…

Silver mirror. Real silver mirror.

As the Ninja H2 itself is a game changer, learning about the fact that Kawasaki will use a paint technique which forms a layer of real silver is of course, surprising, but only just. In the absence of the speckles carbon looks, the darkened silver mirror finish for a street bike is a truly neat stunt, especially when offered ex works.

Kawasaki mentions that special chemicals are being sprayed onto the bodywork panels in successive layers. The reaction which ensues leaves a thin layer of real silver behind, bonded to the bodywork and thanks to the special painting technique, it will also look flawless.

The air will cause the shine of the silver layer to grow dull quickly, as silver oxidizes pretty fast. This leads us to believe that the Kawasaki Ninja H2 will also sport a thick layer of clean lacquer preserving the dark mirror finish and make the bike look even more spectacular.

As for other tech details, we’re definitely not going to learn anything until the bike is unveiled in Milan, on 4 November. That is, unless someone at Kawasaki accidentally posts anything online, under the peering eyes of the fans. We’ll be all eyes at EICMA, so watch this space soon.
