We take the fact that Kia makes cars tailored to European tastes for granted. However, this only started in 2006, when the Korean automaker began assembly Cee'd hatchbacks in Slovakia.
Today, they announced a major milestone has been reached, as this pearl white Cee'd GT five-door is the millionth of its kind. The car and its 204 PS 1.6-liter T-GDI (turbo gasoline direct injection) engine were both produced in Slovakia. They will be packed inside a trailer and sent off to their new owner in the Netherlands.

Made exclusively for the Europeans, this hatchback family now comprises of three different body styles. They represent 21% of local sales or 75,960 units in 2014, making this the second most popular model after the Sportage compact SUV, which is also made in Slovakia.

“The Cee’d has helped establish Kia in Europe as a maker of high-quality, well-designed cars, and it has been one of the key drivers behind our continued growth and success in the region. I’d like to congratulate all my colleagues at Kia Motors Slovakia on this latest milestone, and thank the million customers who have made the Cee’d such a popular model,"
said Artur Martins, Vice President Marketing of Kia Motors Europe.

Between 2006 and 2012, the first generation of the Cee'd sold 646,305 units. Launched three years ago, the Mk2 found 353,695 buyers across Europe. Russia is by far the biggest market, accounting for a fifth of all Cee’d sales (207,597). The Korean hatchback has also proven popular in the UK (102,858) and Germany (99,080).

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
