Kimi Raikkonen Raced This Formula Renault in 2000, Now It Can Be Yours

On January 10th, 2015, the Coys Autosport event in Birmingham will be the place where a very special single seater racecar is to be put under the hammer. We're referring to a lil' Formula Renault 2000 UK single seater, raced by none other than Formula 1 driver Kimi Raikkonen.

The man that took the Formula One World Drivers' title in 2007 with 110 points, the year which saw Scuderia Ferrari claim the coveted Constructors Championship with 204 points, Kimi started his racing efforts from when he was just ten years of age. By age 15, Ice Man managed to race at Monaco and in 1998 he won Norway's karting championship.

But Kimi's first big moment happened in the year 2000, when the Finnish driver won 7 of 10 events in the Formula Renault UK. As for the single seater that enabled him to do so, the red-and-white Tatuus Formula Renault racer you can admire above is that very vehicle. If you haven't heard of Tatuus, this is an Italian chassis manufacturer founded in 1980 that's closely related to the world of Formula Renault.

Curious what's hiding under the carbon fiber body shell and tacky sponsor stickers?

Why it's an F4 RS four-cylinder engine with 190 horsepower on tap mated to a race-spec six-speed Sadev sequential transmission. Of course, the rear axle is handled by a limited-slip differential. The miniature F1 racecar is a true lightweight, tipping the scales at only 560 kilograms (1,234 lbs) including the Ice Man.

Coys informs that the Formula Renault single seater was rebuilt in 2005 by Kimi's old team Manor Motorsport with its original engine, gearbox and monocoque and it is offered at auction at no reserve. If you're interested in acquiring this piece of motorsport history, we recommend to prepare upwards of £50,000, which translates to €63,650 or $77,600 according to current exchange rates.
