It seems like the world of automotive wonders will simply never be the same due to one crazy creation from Koenigsegg. This is one of the select manufacturers out there that can brag with a car that has 1 HP per kilogram of weight. We’re talking about the One:1, of course.
The car wrote history when it was unveiled last year in Geneva. It is the world’s first ‘Megacar’ according to the Swedish company and it has a weight of just 1,360 kg (2,998 lbs). Thanks to the 1,360 HP engine, we’re down to the 1 kg/HP ratio.

That will definitely come in handy on the track as the video below clearly shows. In it we get to see driver Robert Serwanskiand driving it on the Suzuka track in Japan and setting a new record for the circuit, without even breaking a sweat.

At the moment, it’s not official as the result was obtained using just Koenigsegg’s own onboard data logging system but you should bear in mind a couple of other things as well.

The time set was 2:17.57 which is faster than the current record set by a Nissan GT-R at 2:18.36. However, it was the manner in which it was obtained that surprises the most.

You see, this result was achieved using a standard setup, with little to no exposure to the track beforehand, on the car’s first outing, a passenger inside and nursing the brakes throughout. As you can see, it was done absolutely effortless.

“Our best-recorded lap time in this half-hour slot was 2m 17.57s,” Christian von Koenigsegg said. “This is from our own data-logging system, connected to the car on the day. It is not an official time and has no external standing.”

Right, you are mister Koenigsegg, right you are! Even so, we can’t wait to see what the One:1 is capable of in proper full-on mode. What are you waiting for?
