Lyons LM2 Is a 290 MPH Supercar That Has 1,700 HP and 1,610 lb-ft of Torque

Even though it doesn’t look all that exciting judging by the pic above this text, you should hold off judgement of the Lyons LM2 Streamliner model until we actually get to see it in the flesh. Sure, it might not be the best looking car out there but let’s look at the specs for a moment.
Lyons Motor Car is an American company that, simply put, is just another name in that long list of manufacturers that claim to revolutionize the market and eventually disappear in thin air. There’s been a lot of fuss surrounding this car ever since the world read the horsepower count: 1,700 HP.

That’s right, this is right up there with the Koenigsegg Regera and other ludicrously powered models that cost as much as a small fraction of a Lilliputian country’s GDP. All of that power is rumored to come out of a 8.2-liter biturbo V8 from Nelson Racing Engines that is also capable of putting out 2,180 Nm (1,610 lb-ft) of torque.

The body is made of carbon fiber and aluminum and is supposed to be extremely light on its feet, allowing the car to reach 96 km/h (60 mph) in 2.2 seconds. That’s also due to the 7-speed dual-clutch sequential transmission and all-wheel drive system.

Going up to 100 mph (160 km/h) takes just 4.1 seconds and this thing will pass the 1/4 mile marker in 8.8 seconds, reaching a top speed set at 290 mph (467 km/h) which would make this thing the fastest car in the world, above Bugatti’s Veyron or the Hennessey Venom.

That’s not the only impressive thing about this car though. It is rumored that there’s a new approach towards electrical systems in place, one that seem the car leaving the typical 10 miles of cables behind and uses just one to power up all the sensors and electrical stuff on-board.

Furthermore, the interior is supposedly button-free, everything being operated by a single touchscreen mounted in the middle of the car. Too bad the damn thing looks so boring on the outside but we’re more than eager to learn more about it.
