Now that the Huracan is among us in both road and race trim, Lamborghini can turn its attention back to the Aventador and the Italians have just been spotted working to deliver the Aventador Super Veloce.
The pic above shows an Aventador SV prototype being driven on a highway in Italy, with this being the first time a development vehicle has been spotted out in the wild.
This shouldn’t come so much as a surprise though, as we’ve talked about the Aventador SV back in the summer, when Lamborghini dealers started taking deposits for the extra spicy incarnation of the V12 Raging Bull.
For instance, in the UK a customer would have to lock away GBP 10,000 (EUR12,500 or USD 17,000), with the money being used as a refundable deposit - Sant’ Agata Bolognese hasn’t officially offered us the final confirmation for the model yet.
In other words, that kind of money puts you on the waiting list. In case you haven’t been living under a carbon fiber rock, you know the Super Veloce is a limited edition moniker. Sure, Lamborghini won’t be as exigent as Ferrari is when it comes to offering such a car.
As for the muscle at the center of the car, we must keep in mind that the 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 of the Aventador is an all-new engine, so engineers have plenty of room for output-increasing maneuvers. So far, they’ve only taken the powerplant from 700 to 720 horses for the Aventador 50th Anniversario.
Earlier this year, we spoke to a Lamborghini dealer who told us to expect the Aventador SV in the second half of 2015, so the Frankfurt Auto Show is probably the best bet or maybe even at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este.

What will the SV treatment bring to the Aventador?
As, for instance, the Murcielago has shown us, the SV treatment will bring a carbon fiber armor to the Aventador. This and the fact that Lamborghini vowed to increase performance by cutting weight a few years ago point to the fact that the Aventador Super Veloce will pack plenty of the wonder material. The spied test vehicle sports a massive diffuser, but lacks what we expect to be a trademark of the Aventador SV, namely a fixed rear wing. The Murcielago SV had one and just about every Lamborghini tuner out there has strapped one to the supercar.
