The Lamborghini Asterion concept is not the newest or most thrilling Raging Bull. However, it's still a stunning looking machine and, not surprisingly, captured everyone's attention at Concorso d'Eleganza Vila d'Este.
With a stunning lake and the grand hotel at its back, the only Lamborghini plug-in hybrid ever looked stunning. However, they also used green Miura to make sure everyone had their attention in the right place.

We won't presume to know what the average Lamborghini owner wants from his car, but we may have stumbled upon a little chink in the Asterion's armor. Unlike the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, the engine is at the back, so there's not a lot of room for luggage. Specially created handbags made from the same leather as the interior can be stuffed under the bonnet, but this is hardly adequate for the trip to the summer villa.

Being the only electrically driven Lamborghini around, the Asterion LPI 910-4 is also interesting to watch in motion. This cross between a supercar and a Prius packs 910 metric horsepower (that's 897 in America and Britain) and 4-wheel drive. Two electric motors are located at the front, with another placed between the 5.2-liter V10 engine and the gearbox.

Just like any ordinary PHEV, the Asterion can drive itself around town in pure EV mode and travel for up to 50 km (31 miles). If you are extremely careful with the throttle, it can supposedly achieve a combined fuel consumption of only 4.2 liters per 100 km (56 mpg US), equivalent to CO2 emissions of 98 grams per kilometer.

If you want to be civilized and not disturb the tranquility of this beautiful lake shore in Norther Italy, electric driving is brilliant. It's also been a long time since anybody called a Lamborghini "understated," so the Asterion concept might be worth building.
