There’s dipping the tip of your Salvatore Ferragamo shoes into the water market in order to test the clientele and then there’s the relentless teasing game Lamborghini has built around its Urus SUV. Well, it looks like the endless push-and-pull scheme has come to an end, with the Urus finally receiving the production approval.
The info comes from Quattroruote, whose insiders have learned that the efforts of the Italian government have had a strong contribution to this. As we’ve talked in the past, the Volkswagen Group was analyzing both the Bratislava plant in Slovakia, where other VW Group SUVs are built and Italian production.

While this is the first time when a report talks about the green light received by the SUV, the subsidies said to have been offered by the Italian authorities are a different matter.

A previous report spoke of a total value of EUR100 million, while the new story talks about EUR80 million. Regardless, the money will be offered as tax breaks and other financial benefits.

The VW Group will have to inject some serious cash into this Italian affair, with the Urus production believed to bring some 300 jobs to Italy’s economy. With unemployment rates in the country hitting high rates, the move is more than welcome.

This is far from Lamborghini's first attempt to build a four-door model

Many of you remember the Urus is not the first four-door Lamborghini the company takes a long time to decide one. The model that occupied this position before was the Estoque, which was envisioned as Lamborghini’s take on the Porsche Panamera concept.

Info above aside, the Urus Concept makes for a much more solid business case. With SUV demand growing and so many other exquisite brands jumping the bandwagon, Bentley included, it only makes sense for Sant’Agata Bolognese to bring the world a modern LM002.
