Following last week’s video that showed the Lexus RC testing its 2.0-liter turbo engine side by side with the LFA Code X, our carparazzi worked some magic and brought a set of spyshots showing the two racers in action on the Nurburgring, in Germany.
As we previously reported, Lexus has created their first-ever turbo engine that found a home in the brand’s NX compact SUV - NX 200t, to be accurate. Some are suggesting that in a ‘sharing is caring spirit’, Lexus will come up with the GS 200t and RC 200t in the near future.

All we know is that the new turbocharged engine is good for 235 HP and 340 Nm (258 lb-ft). However, that’s what road cars will get. The big guns are to come in Lexus’ hot-shots which will compete in the upcoming 24-hour Nurburgring race in May, but the Japanese brand is keeping things shush-shush.

Alongside the RC race car, Lexus put the 2015 LFA Code X to the test. The LFA is a veteran in this competition, having started its campaign in 2008. As you all know, the supercar’s production was cut off in 2012 but several versions of the car followed for motorsport use only.

This weekend, Gazoo Racing had a private three-hour test session and the LFA Code X looks like it received some new visual mods and new air intakes all around the body. The Code X was blessed with a 5.3-liter V10 engine that replaced that standard 4.8-liter powerhouse in the regular LFA, throwing all its best towards the rear axle via a sequential manual gearbox with paddle shifters.

As usual, Toyota aims for the race to serve as an opportunity to cultivate personnel able to develop ever-better vehicles.
