In fact, the NX crossover was the model that introduced the 2.0-liter turbo plant in the first place, but it looks like Lexus had a greater plan for their new aggregate.

On the RC Coupé, the engine will team-up with an 8-speed Sport Direct Shift (SPDS) transmission. Lexus engineers also came up with an F Sport version, equipped with a Torsen limited slip differential.

The specs

In case your memory is not helping you right now, we'll add the pot is good for 238 HP delivered between 4,800 and 5,600 rpm and a max torque of 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) that signals its presence in the 1,650-4,000 rpm interval. As far as the RC 200t is concerned, Lexus claims that the sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill comes in 7,5 seconds, and the coupé can reach a top speed of 230 km/h (143 mph).

Surprisingly, the Lexus NX 200t, equipped with the same engine, goes from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.1 seconds. Fuel efficiency-wise, the engine is supposed to drink on an average 7.2 liters of fuel per every 100 km (25 mpg US) and release in the air 166 g/km of CO2 emissions.

One of the engine's advantages is its lightweight character. The mill tips the scales at only 160 kg (353 lbs) and underwent two test stages: over 10,000 hours of bench-testing and one million kilometers of extensive on-road testing.

Together with the already announced RC 300h, the new RC 200t go on sale throughout Europe at the end of the year.
