With McLaren's road car return being still fresh, the aftermarket scene that targets Woking machines hasn't reached a monumental level at this point, and yet those in the market for such developments can't complain. The latest development in the field is one that will be remembered for quite some time, since we're talking about a Liberty Walk kit.
The Japanese tuner has just released a teaser for a widebody kit targeting the McLaren 650S.

While the image above, which comes from the tuner's Instagram, is only a rendering, it shouldn't be long until a McLaren owner decides to take the package home.

It seems only natural for Liberty Walk to target the 650S, since this is McLaren's standard supercar now, if we may call it that.

Installing such a kit is a bit like getting a tattoo, since the fat fenders that have helped with popularizing the package require cutting into the fenders of the car in order to be installed.

Nevertheless, with Liberty Walk having already penetrated the Ferrari and Lamborghini market, we can be sure the McLaren clientele will be no exception.

The kit also includes a carbon front splitter, as well as a rear apron (this is not visible in the rendering) and a generously-sized rear wing.

The wing is obviously not mandatory, but most Liberty Walk-fitted cars also include this, since it draws attraction like a magnet. This is the point where we can't help but wonder about the benefits of a massive fixed wing replacing the active aero element on the standard car.

Yes, Liberty Walk kits are the kind of development that splits opinions, but with more and more supercar drivers aiming for individuality with their help, we can only expect the trend to grow, so be prepared to meet one of these as you wait for the traffic light to turn green.
