Lotec C1000 Powered by Mercedes-Benz Is On Sale for $650,000

Most of the youngsters don’t know what Lotec is. We’re much obliged to tell you that it’s a German company that made a lot of Group 6 and Group C racing cars, a one-off supercar for an Arab oil baron, the 400 km/h Sirius supercar, and aftermarket parts for Mercedes-Benz models. What interests us today is the one-off supercar finished in 1995.

Its name is the Lotec C1000 and the final price of research, development, and production is estimated at $3.4 million. If anything, the opportunity to acquire this unique Lotec for as little as $650,000 is an offer one can hardly refuse. Found in the inventory of RK Motors Charlotte, the 20-year-old Lotec C1000 has been driven just 1,600 miles (2,576 kilometers).

That makes is almost new, although the interior and engine have that cool motorsport patina from the early 1990s. On the powertrain front, the belly of the beast is a 5.6-liter twin-turbo V8 developed and produced by Mercedes-Benz. That’s why the Lotec C1000 wears a three-pointed star logo up its nose. Have a wild stab in the dark how much horsepower this bad boy is packing? Yup, 1,000 HP is what we’re dealing with.

Even though it’s rear-wheel drive, it rides on 17-inch wheels, it suffers from massive turbo lag from the twin Garrett chargers, and cog swapping is dealt by a Hewland 5-speed manual, the Lotec C1000’s performance is far from old school. Look at the Le Mans racer-like profile and the aerodynamically-conscious body shell. This car oozes motorsport and the theoretical max speed mirrors that: 268 mph (431 km/h). That’s more than the quad-turbo W16-powered Bugatti Veyron SS tour-de-force. It is a game-changing car this.

Thanks to a monocoque chassis with fully integrated safety cell, a helluva lot of carbon fiber, and extremely wide tires at the rear, the Lotec C1000 is able to accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.2 seconds. That’s fast even by the supercar standards of today. Other than the car itself, RK Motors Charlotte will bundle goodies such as a feature in a German magazine, a feature in Supercar magazine, a signed letter from Lotec founder Kurt Lotterschmid addressing the previous owner, instruction manual, and service records.
