Not long ago we commemorated 14 years since the 9/11 tragedy unfolded but while the events that happened that day were saddening, they also revealed the best in all of us. We learned that day that if we unite and are determined, we can change the course of history.
I’m talking about the passengers of the famous Flight 93, the perfect example of how people getting together can help avoid tragedies. In case you didn’t know already when terrorists took over the airplane, the passengers got together and tried to retake control of the cockpit, while the vessel was changing course towards Washington DC.

Unfortunately, they crashed but at least they did it on their terms, managing to save countless lives in the process, sacrificing their own. This following story might not be so tragic, but it does make you appreciate what sticking together might bring.

All 35 passengers on US Airways Flight 4384 decided to take a stand and disembark the airplane following a blind man and his dog being kicked off. The whole dispute was apparently started due to the misconduct of one of the flight attendants.

Mr. Albert Rizzi, a blind man from Long Island, was escorted out by the airport security and a heated dispute with an attendant because of a misunderstanding regarding the place where his guide dog should sit.

Apparently, even though Mr. Rizzi arrived at the airport before everyone else on the plane and he was supposed to be seated first, the attendants decided to leave him last. No biggie, said the man but then he was seated in the middle of the back row, looking onto the aisle and with no seat in front of him.

That may seem like a blessing but usually guide dogs sit under the seat in front of ‘their humans’. With such a scenario rendered impossible, alternative solutions were thought of. Doxy, the Labrador, was initially offered space under the seat of the woman to Mr. Rizzi’s left.

That was okay at first but since the plane sat on the runway for two more hours, the poor dog had to get up and reposition itself a couple of times during this time. In the end, Doxy went under Rizzi’s seat, against the back of the plane.

That was not to the flight attendant’s liking that asked Mr. Rizzi to position his dog where they previously agreed. This was when the heated debate started. Following this discussion, the airplane returned to the gate and the blind man and his dog were kicked off, taken away by the airport security.

Seeing how things unfolded, passengers started demanding that the flight attendant be removed from the plane and Mr. Rizzi allowed back on. Every one of the 35 passengers agreed that was the course of action to be taken and they stood together like never before.

"This became the most wonderful experience, out of the most horrible experience. I found that humanity does exist, and people can do the right thing," Rizzi said to CNN, referring to the actions of his fellow passengers.

The company said it will undergo an investigation, to see exactly what happened and if their employees were out of line.
