Taking things to the limit is not only risky, but can sometimes brake the law as well. It turns out the stunt put together by professional wakeboarder Jorge Gill the other day could be against the law, as the Ferrari F50 that was pulling him might have been speeding. Police is now investigating the video uploaded on YouTube showing the teenager being dragged on the water canal.
The video showing the 19-year old wakeboarder from London surfing a water canal while being dragged by a Ferrari F50 went viral the other day. Footage shows the daredevil hitting some impressive speeds during those 40 seconds of crazy adventure, until the driver of the hypercar eventually hits the brake.

Problem is the reported speed of the car could prompt a police investigation into the stunt, which took place on a country lane where the speed limit is 60 mph (96 km/h). It would seem like the two-time European wakeboarding champion hurtled along the river as the Ferrari hit speeds of 84 mph (135 km/h).

Lincolnshire Police claims the video has brought to their attention and that they are currently trying to establish whether any offenses have been committed. “It appears that there may be issues concerning excessive speed and the manner in which the car was driven," a spokesman said.

Considering what this car is capable of, we’ll have to agree with the police’s supposition. After all, the Ferrari F50 features a 4.7-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine running 5 valves per cylinder, a mill that was developed from an actual racecar’s engine. It’s a beast capable of doing the 0 - 60 mph (0 - 96 km/h) stint in 3.7 seconds.

Assuming the driver pushed the loud pedal hard and taking into account the stunt lasted for about 40 seconds, it’s pretty obvious what happened there. Not that we agree with fining the poor fellow, but the cops are probably right.
