Porsche 911 Turbo Gets Carbon Fiber Body from Topcar, Costs More than Half a Boxster

There are those days when people talk about the now-usual carbon fiber bits for the Porsche 911 Turbo/ Turbo S and then there are days such as this one, when the tuning market experiences a bang. You know, stuff like a full CF body for Zuffenhausen's supercar.

Those of you who are keeping close track of the Porsche-related world may already suspect we're dealing with Russian tuner Topcar. Over the last few years, these people have developed a fetish for gifting Porsche with the wonder material. And yes, we are talking about the real CF deal (built using vacuum forming), not Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP).

The company's halo carbon fiber attire is a Neunelfer-destined widebody kit called Stinger GTR, which is comprised of 24 pieces.

The specialist has now come up with a development that builds on the Stinger GTR. Upping the ante to 30 pieces, the aftermarket developer has reached a level where the car almost gets rebodied.

What about the financial side of such an adventure?

Since this is a fresh development, we don't know the price of the new body yet. Nevertheless, we can tell you the 24-piece kit mentioned above costs around EUR 40,000, EUR 6,000 installation included (make that USD43,550 at the current exchange rates). To put things into perspective, we'll mention that, even with a reasonable price increase over the previous development, the new package can't be too affordable in comparison to, say, a $52,100 (MSRP) Boxster.

Topcar already has US dealers and when it comes to the delicate installation job of such a kit, the company usually offers two versions. The operation is typically handled at one of the tuner's partners. The task can also be carried out at the customer's location, with the Topcar staff travel and accommodation costs covered by the client. Wonder if these guys have tea in carbon fiber cups...
