There must've been at least one occasion on which you looked at the Porsche 918 Spyder, determining yourself to release a big, fat "Wow!". Well, you should know that, when it comes to bonkers machinery, Zuffenhausen's history holds even meaner creations. The Porsche 959 is the perfect example of this, but unfortunately we are here to talk about a 959 that is no more.
The adjacent image, which comes from Twitter user @TauYaDitshego, brings us what we should never see, at least not outside a service elevator, namely the belly of a Porsche 959. The retro supercar has gone though this ordeal while on the streets of Geneva.
Any Porsche accident is bad enough, but when we're talking about a Group B-inspired senior supercar, things hit rock bottom. Oh and did we mention Porsche only built 337 of these?
While the events that led to crash are unclear at the moment, this is definitely one unusual situation. First of all, the 959 isn't exactly the kind of car that obeys the "roll over and play dead" kind of commands. Heck, back in 1986 when this was introduced, it was the fastest production car in the world, with a top speed of 195 mph (314 km/h) and had the handling to match that. In fact, it was the 959's all-wheel drive capabilities that determined Zuffenhausen to take the 911 Turbo down this road.
Then there's the fact that the accident took place in Switzerland. In case you didn't know, the Swiss law takes a driver's wealth into account when applying speeding fines, for instance, which has led to impressive road safety statistics.
By the way, the Swiss people love Porsches, so we can only imagine how painful the experience was for those who witnessed the crash.

And speaking of those who were on the scene of the crash, it is reported the 959 driver was actually speeding, which caused him to lose control in the wet. The Porsche is said to have hit a guardrail, which caused it to land on its roof.
