Last time Power Wheels was selling 18-volt Porsche 911 toy cars, the toy maker was experiencing some problems with the foot pedal switch which led to a recall. It seems that the Fisher Price subsidiary has now improved its ways since reports are a new Porsche toy car is in the making. Best part, it’s going to be the 911 GT3.
In case you thought recalls only happen in real life, then you’re about to be surprised. The first recall Power Wheels had to face had something to do with the contacts in the foot pedal switch that could have weld together in use. This meant the three-year old Porsche “driver” could have found himself not being able to stop the toy car, since the motor would remain running and the vehicle would continue moving forward if the malfunction occurred.

Ever since, there were no more Porsche Power Wheels mini-cars being developed which most likely was a bummer for the well-healed parents in Beverly Hills who needed something proper to inspire their kids with.

This is about to change, however, since it appears children aged three and older are about to be offered a 911 FT3 electric toy car. Sure, they will still be able to choose from the regular models such as the Jeep Wrangler, Ford F-150 (which by the way we even tested last year) and Mustang.

It will cost you about $360 to make your kid possibly the best present next Christmas, but according to Toyland, the car is developed so your kid can fit in even after he grows up so it might be worth it. The seats slide back so longer legs can fit under the faux dashboard and faster top speeds can be unlocked as kids get more experienced.

To be honest, we’re not the biggest fans of these toy-cars since they rather seem like a marketing strategy car makers use to turn our kids in their future customers, but hey, we don’t all have to be the same. We’ll keep you up to date with further details on the toy’s features when they become available.
