This man saves a runaway Mustang in a piece of action that seems to come straight from Hollywood, only the special effects are... real.
Like any good production, this clip has a twist - the mechanic is not exactly a hero, as he was the one to blame for the pony’s runaway incident. The CCTV footage shows the man driving the first-generation Mustang Convertible into the shop and soon after the guy steps out of the car, the vehicle starts rolling away.
The incredible save
The mechanic, who appears to be in his 40s, makes the run of his life, aiming for the rolling ‘Stang. He manages to close the driver’s door just as this was about to slam against the garage entry. With the car still rolling, the man jumps inside over the closed door and manages to push the brake in time to bring the vehicle to a halt. Whether he used his hand or his foot to operate the pedal, only he knows.
Oh, and it seems like the guy also steers the Mustang away from rolling backwards into a Hyundai Tucson parked neatly outside the shop.
While this guy won’t get any medal, his Mustang episode can certainly serve as a move that raises our awareness. Better make sure you’ve secured your car. Oh and by the way, if you happen to own an old vehicle, that handbrake might not work properly anymore, so you might want to have that checked.
