When you look at a $40 million 1938 Bugatti 57SC Atlantic Coupe time freezes. Everything you know about “now” disappears. A mesmerizing feeling of peace only true masterpieces can provoke suddenly takes over your whole nature and transposes you in a different world. Ralph Lauren’s Automotive limited edition watches are meant to inspire just that and the famous fashion designer’s new model is even better than the previous.
The first model we were quite impressed of was released last October and, as this particular one does, was inspired by Ralph Lauren's beloved Bugatti. Both models were specially designed to be showcased at this month’s Salon International De La Haute Horlogerie in Paris.

We knew Ralph Lauren is not only a fashion designer, but also a true car collector, but ever since we have learnt what this man is capable of in matter of recreating the beauty of classic cars through the designs of timepieces he really caught our attention. The Ralph Lauren RL Automotive Skeleton Watch is the latest in a series of truly stunning luxury watches, all of which take inspiration from rare automobiles built throughout the 20th century.

As we said previously, this particular timepiece is inspired by the dashboard of the precious Bugatti Lauren actually owns but comes with a couple of small differences to the other model. The stand-out design element is represented by the ring of Amboyna burl wood that encircles the display. This wood was commonly used in the instrument panels of luxury vehicles in the 1930s. Featuring a black stainless steel case, the eccentric watch comes with double AR-coated sapphire crystals.

The dial is black matte galvanic Azure, with subdial at 12 o’clock, sporting a beige RL logo. Inside there’s a Swiss manual-wind IWC reserve of 45 hours. As opposed to its previous Bugatti-inspired timepiece, the one in question comes with a black alligator strap with black Alsavel lining and a black shot-blasted stainless steel pin buckle.

Like most of the timepieces in this beautiful collection, these puppies won’t come cheap. Rumors are the new Bugatti watch costs about $35,000.
