After announcing that the Range Rover line-up will get a fourth model in the near future, Land Rover’s chief creative officer, Larry McGovern also let it slip that the Evoque will get an SV version.
Speaking at the 2015 New York Auto Show with the guys from Car Advice, the man wasn’t shy to confirm that the Special Vehicle Operations division is currently set to expand the Evoque range to more variants.

This would be the first time the Evoque will be available in Autobiography guise and it will also offer other cars in the segment a run for their money. That’s not all though. It seems like Land Rover wants to make the most out of the Special Vehicle Operations division and get as many cars through this treatment as possible.

“Evoque runs for another three years, or a few more years – and I’m not saying no to anything because the whole reason for the Special Vehicle Operations is to take all these different families and actually do versions on all of them. That’s the beauty of starting on [the Range Rover SVAutobiography],” McGovern said. “You’ll see that operation working on [models] right through the Range Rover range, on Discoverys and eventually on Defenders,” he added.

He then went on and said that SVO models are simply supposed to be special and if that involves better performance, it also involves more luxury. That being said, you should expect such a version to have an incredibly high price tag.

Land Rover is apparently already working on the new Evoque model, even though, the facelift for the current one was just revealed a little over a month ago, at Geneva.

On top of all this high-performance, SVO talk we should also expect the convertible version of the smallest Range on the table to show up towards the end of the year. That’s right, the Evoque will be offered in Convertible guise starting this year, our spy photographers already having caught the car out testing.

Since only Nissan had the audacity to make a convertible SUV before and they failed terribly at it, Range Rover is really stretching its margins here. However, if they’re going to build it, we’re pretty sure there’s also a market for it. The question is: how big is it?
