Organized by Martin Freinademetz, the same guy who created the Romaniacs, Minas Riders aims to replicate the insane, grueling conditions of the Romanian round as much as possible. The Romaniacs is the toughest multi-day hard enduro rally in the championship, and Freinademetz wants to create a South American replica of the event.

The Red Bull Minas Riders will also include a Prolog, a pre-rally shakedown that will determine the starting order. The Prolog will be designed by Andy Fazekas, the same guy who has been playing with the nerves of riders and the hearts of the spectators since the debut of the Romaniacs, in 2004.

The Romaniacs Prolog in Sibiu has become increasingly tough by the year, and is regarded as one of the points of high interest in the competition.

Martin Freinademetz has already spent months in Brazil in 2015 identifying the most suitable trails for the Minas Riders, and watching the first trailer, we can see that he wasn't idling.

We already spotted a quarry and this introduces a bit of Erzberg-factor in the big picture, which is, obviously, both awesome and promising. Brazil has a lot of hard terrain, and setting an enduro race in the mountains of Minas Gerais has excellent odds of creating a cool event with a strong following. Minas Riders officials also say that some of the hard trails are even 100km+ (62 miles), a proper manly season opener.

In fact, most of the top names in the hard enduro championship have confirmed they will be present at the start of the Minas Riders, so it looks like we're in for quite a lot of hard enduro fun the Romanian-Brazilian way, April 17-20.
