The Captur crossover has been part of Renault's arsenal for over a year now and a new, more powerful diesel engine has just been introduced by the French company in order to compete with the Opel Mokka. The 110 PS version of the 1.5 dCi is now available and should have a noticeable impact on performance, particularly on the highway.
Compared to the existing 1.5 dCi, this high-output model makes 20 extra PS and 40 Nm more torque (total is 260 Nm or 192 lb-ft). This has shaved 2 seconds off the acceleration time to 100 km/h, which is now 11 seconds.

The effects on fuel consumption are minimal, with combined numbers going from 3.6 up to just 3.7 l/100km (76.3 mpg UK). The only downside besides the extra cost is that you can't order it with the EDC automatic gearbox yet.

To celebrate the introduction of this new mill, Renault has decided to launch the Captur Pure limited edition model. Only 1,000 examples will ever be built and all will have similar cosmetic touches. Distinctive features include Cassiopee Grey paint with an Etoile Black roof, "Pure" exterior badging, roof decals, numbered door sills, black leather seats with charcoal bolster accents and floor mats.

The Capture Pure special edition is based on the Intens trim level and thus gets standard heated front seats, a reversing camera and R-Link. Prices start at €23,8000 in France for models equipped with the TCE 120 1.2-liter turbo engine. You can also order it with the dCi 110, the TCE 120 with a 6-speed EDC and the dCi 90 with the same twin-clutch gearbox.

As for the 1.5 dCi 110 engine, it's also available right now from the Zen trim level upwards, with prices starting at €21,600, which is €1,200 more than the equivalent dCi 90 model. Captur dCi 110 range (in France):

  • Zen Energy dCi 110 eco² : €21.600
  • Intens Energy dCi 110 eco² : €23.300
  • SL Helly Hansen dCi 110 eco² : €24.300
  • Business Energy dCi 110 eco² : €22.100
