There’s a real craze with Photoshopping high-end cars into pickup trucks going over the Internet these days. Heck, even we did a couple. But this is not thing happening only in the virtual world necessary. You can buy a Rolls-Royce pickup truck right now and it has nothing to do with photo editing.
In fact, a pickup Rolls-Royce has more to do with World War II aircrafts, as the company was using them to deliver complete Merlin V12 engines to airplane factories. Doubt they’ll ever do that again though...
As bizarre as it looks, the quality of the work gone into making it seems professional enough to make you believe it’s one of the original units made back in the day. This one is a replica actually, recently built with the aid of Classic Coach & Motor Body.
The front end is indeed a 1939 Rolls-Royce Phantom, wearing chassis number 3DL70 which, according to the limited amount of information provided by the seller, was a non-functional car.
At the rear, the restorers used a 1930’s Ford pickup bed and suspension, while that long, straight hood shelters a restored 7.3-liter V12 engine spinning the rear wheels. The exterior is all finished in a nice Midnight Blue shade, while the leather upholstery inside is tan color all the way.
Price for this wonder? The ad here says $150,000 (€120,990) or best offer. So, would you?
