It’s almost starting to look like Rolls-Royce launches a unique car every other week. After taking a look at the Inspector Morse Wraith not long ago, we’re now being treated with yet another bespoke creation, this time the Phantom Maharaja Peacock Drophead Coupe model.
Yes, that’s a lengthy title but it does match what the British company wanted to do with the car and boy, is it looking dashing or what? According to them, this Phantom celebrates the beauty of the peacock which, incidentally, is also India’s national bird. That’s right, India has a national bird.

Over the years, especially when the United Kingdom used to run things in India, Rolls-Royce cars were rather popular amongst the wealthiest of its inhabitants. Maharajas used to order them by the bundle and that’s something the Goodwood-based brand won’t forget easily.

As for this particular car, it was decked with Carrera White paint on the exterior while a Pine Green coachline on its side brings out the peacock emblem that’s the main motif of the whole thing. The same hue was used for the dash and steering wheel but also for various other areas of the cabin such as the handles in the back for example.

Speaking of it, the dash and the instrument cluster are engulfed in woodgrain while the best leather was used for the upholstery and is decorated with various peacock emblems here and there.

To me, personally, that might be a bit too much wood, especially considering that they used it for the tonneau cover and top of the doors. However, if there was a company that could pull this off, it’s Rolls-Royce. And, to put things in perspective, this is something they do on most of their cars.

Not too long ago, Rolls-Royce USA’s spokesman said that all of the cars they make are bespoke and every owner wants his done to his exact specifications. Therefore, this is just another day in Goodwood.
