It's been only a few months since the Japanese brand rolled out the 2015 Impreza and 2015 Outback, and here we are today, in the presence of the 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek. The more rugged sibling of the compact Impreza is now better equipped than ever before.
Slated to arrive at U.S. dealers this December, the crossover variant of the Impreza gets some new and quite handy features for the 2015 model year. Starting with a 6.2-inch infotainment system and a parking camera coming as standard on the 2.0i, 2.0i Premium and Hybrid, the $21,995 XV Crosstrek also adds steering responsive fog lights on cars with EyeSight.

On higher specification models as the 2.0i Premium with EyeSight, 2.0i Limited and Hybrid Touring, the 2015 XV Crosstrek is boasting with a 7-inch multitouch gesture infotainment system. Sporting a ground clearance of 8.7 inches, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and 17-inch alloy wheels as standard, this Subaru is fitted with a boxer engine that displaces 2 liters and churns out 148 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of twist.

Coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox as standard, the Subaru XV Crosstrek can also be had with the second-gen Lineartronic CVT, which blends both a sporty, adventurous character and a more laidback side when you're not in the mood to soft-road or chuck it into the first hairpin like you're some sort of Ken Block.

To boot, the 2015 model year is rated 34 miles per gallon on the highway, which is not bad at all. As for the $25,995 hybrid variant of the 2015 XV Crosstrek, a 13.5 kW Ni-Mh battery pack with 0.55 kWh capacity is added along with a regenerative braking system, to make every mile driven and sip of gas count.

Last but not least, practicality. Thanks to an 103.7-inch wheelbase, the new XV Crosstrek yields impressive roominess, including a 35.4-inch rear seat legroom. By folding the 60/40 split rear seatbacks flat into the floor, the model can provide up to 51.9 cubic feet of space for any bit and bob you need to carry.
