Those familiar with the Levorg badge already know the station wagon was first developed for the domestic Japanese market, but Subaru wants to go global with this one after debuting the model in Geneva earlier this year.
Levorg shares platform with Impreza and Legacy, and its name comes from 'LEgacy, reVOlution, touRinG' and yes, Japanese carmakers to have a thingy for abbreviations and car names - just ask Honda about it.
In any case, Subaru confirmed the Levorg GT will go on sale in the UK this September, but info on the car is rather limited. However, we can tell you the spiritual successor to the fourth-generation Legacy Tourer (2003 - 2008) will use a 1.6-liter turbo boxer petrol engine good for 170 horsepower and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of max torque.
Those wanting more will have the possibility of choosing a top-spec version of the Levorg with making 300 HP and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. The engine's resources will be managed through a six-speed Lineatronic transmission and buyers will also receive Subaru’s trademark Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.
Moreover, Subaru insists "the Levorg GT will also feature some of the latest passive and active safety technology, including blind spot detection and rear vehicle alert" while the car's interior will be fitted with "the brand’s latest factory-fit infotainment system, bespoke sports seats and premium materials".
Regarding the infotainment system, we think it's the Subaru Starlink Safety and Security bundle, but we'll have to wait for the official equipment list to confirm that.
The first cars are expected to set foot in the UK sometime around September, which means we should have more info on the Subaru Levorg GT as that date closes in.
