We were honestly really excited about the European debut of the Levorg wagon at the Geneva Motor Show. After all, here is a model available with symmetrical AWD and a 300 hp 2-liter boxer engine. What more could you want?
But somehow, everything that made it great was sort of… lost in translation. The Subaru company official came onto the stage and talked about how they sold 30,000 units in just 7 months after the Japanese market launch, but all we could think about was that he sounded like a character from South Park.

At the same time, a band called the Yoshida Brothers played in the background. They use traditional string musical instruments called Shamisen and put a modern twist on it. That might be cool over in Japan, but we saw them as weird banjo players or Japanese versions of Apocalyptica.

As if that wasn't enough, the official launch video for the Levorg, which you can also find in this article, shows a couple of bunnies for absolutely no reason. What do Japanese wagons have in common with bunnies and why pick banjo rock music for the unveiling? We may never know.

What we do know is that in Europe, the Levorg will initially be available with a 1.6-liter boxer turbo engine making 170 PS and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. A choice between the six-speed manual and a Lineartronic CVT gearboxes will be offered. We think the Brits will get it first, since they're the only RHD market in Europe, with prices starting somewhere around £26,000.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
