Subaru Levorg Tuned by Rowen: Tampered Forbidden Fruit – Photo Gallery

The Subaru Levorg is at the very top of our JDM forbidden fruit list. It's got all wheel drive, it's a wagon and above all, it's a Subaru. But for a reason that makes no sense whatsoever, Subaru doesn't offer this Legacy wagon anywhere else than its home country. And now the Levorg is even hotter, thanks to the work of tuning specialists Rowen International, so we're really upset with not being able to buy it.

We've shown you two supercars they customized with bosozoku kits for the annual Tokyo Auto Salon, the Ferrari 458 Spider and the Lamborghini Aventador, both in white. And now the same sort of magic was applied to the Levorg.

Their body kit includes new front spoiler, a chrome grille insert, the massive hood scoop which every Subaru should have and side skirts. Around the back, we have a set of HeatBlue exhaust pipe, a diffuser and the massive black wing which makes absolutely no sense.

The Rowen Subaru Levorg has also been lowered and sits on a set of Prodrive Japan GC05N 29-inch gold alloy wheels with low-profile tires. What's our favorite bit? That would have to be the little LEDs at the bottom of the front bumper. They're so... 1990s import.

No word on what's under the bonnet, but Rowen are not known for chip tuning their engines. In stock format, the all-wheel drive wagon is available with either a 1.6-liter turbo boxer engine or a bigger 2-liter. The base model offer 170 PS and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque, while the high-spec car has 300 PS (211 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. Both have permanent all-wheel drive and offer a choice of manual or Lineartronic CVT gearboxes.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
