Surprise Your Kid this Halloween with the Caped Crusader’s Batmobile

Let’s face it, the days when you’d make that phantom costume out of an older bed sheet for your kid are over. Heck, while we’d injure ourselves trying to make something cool out of older clothes, some company out there places another collection of Halloween costumes on the market. It’s all about buying it new, nowadays.

As the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows’ Day is getting closer, you may have heard of parents wondering what to buy this year. Since we stumbled upon it anyway, we figured we may as well share the news. It turns out, Hammacher Schlemmer has already thought of the "trick or treat" moment, considering they have recently added the “Young Caped Crusader’s Batmobile” to their online market.

It’s a battery-powered ride-on car that has little to nothing in common with the actual vehicles the Caped Crusader would drive in the movies although it does slightly relate to those featured throughout the comic series. After all, it’s a toy car designed for kids aged 1 to 6, what would you expect?

Riders weighing up to 50 lbs (22 kg) can stop, accelerate, and steer towards their destination while secured with a seat belt. A remote control lets cautious parents take over, of course, but that shouldn’t affect the amount of fun your kid has. With a cowl-shaped “battering ram” bumper and bat-winged tailfins, this car is meant to be a combination of ideas that takes bits from all the Batmobile designs.

Its headlights turn on while a light in the hood turns color to indicate crime-fighting is imminent. No hero can cruise the streets without the proper music, which is why there’s also a four button-activated sound option. Hit play and you’ll be hearing Batman theme music, including that from the 1960s TV show.

Its rechargeable battery provides up to two hours of “caped crusades” from a four-hour recharge using the included AC adapter. Whether or not it’s worth $300, it’s up to you to decide.
