Not too long ago we were looking at a video shot on the set of the new Mission Impossible movie, showing us how the stunt drivers abused a couple of M3s for the sake of entertainment. While for us, gearheads, that was really hard to watch, for the rest of the audience we’re sure it’s going to be extremely enjoyable.
Now, the same cars seem to have been loaded onto a trailer and carried away after they were done with them. Just like discarded, used toys, nobody seems to care about them.

We counted around 8 Silverstone Metallic cars on that trailer and all of them look really mangled up. Only God knows what they have been putting these beauties through. The question that arises, though is what’s going to happen to them.

Most likely, they will be turned to scrap after everything that could’ve been salvaged was taken away. But it’s still a shame to see so many F80s ruined like that.

However, looking through the photos posted by the original spotter we noticed that the car Tom Cruise actually drives in the movie isn’t an M3 at all. That’s a regular BMW F30 3 Series with modified bumpers to look like a proper M car. You can also tell that some of the cars used on set are 3ers by the fact that on one shot, one is seen wearing 16” wheels that would be too small for the brake calipers of an M3.

Apparently, the real deal is being used only by professional stunt drivers and when it comes to the actors themselves stepping behind the wheel, more toned down cars are used with some nifty tricks up their sleeves.

The new Mission Impossible movie will be coming out next year, featuring Tom Cruise, of course, and other big shots from Hollywood including Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner.
